Important To Double Cleanse After Using Sunscreen

Is it necessary to double cleanse because you do not apply makeup but only uses sunblock and concealer?  The answer would be "YES" that you double cleanse precisely because you use a sunblock.

To get this product, chat with us now or whatapp 96890670

Sunscreen, especially waterproof ones, are best removed with oil-based cleansers. If your cleanser has oils in it (i.e. milky, cream, or cleansing oils), it will probably be able to properly remove your sunscreen. To tell if sunscreen is removed completely, take a close look at your skin after you finish washing.

To get this product, chat with us now or whatapp 96890670
If the water droplets on your skin look very round and bubble-like (like how water droplets look on a water-proof or oily surface), then you probably still have traces of sunscreen on your skin. If this is the case, consider using cleansing oils or makeup removers.

You can also give your cleanser the toner or mirror test. For the toner test, wipe on some toner (or even plain oil) after washing your face and if there is anything left on the cotton pad, then your cleanser is not removing sunscreen properly.

For the mirror test, touch your skin while it's still damp (after cleansing) and wipe your finger a on a mirror. If the water streaks are clean and clear, then your cleanser is doing a good job washing off sunscreen. If it ends up white or murky, then you probably need a better cleanser to remove your sunscreen completely or you need to use a makeup remover beforehand.

If you are using a Mineral-based Sunscreen
If you are using a sunblock, or also known as a mineral-based sunscreen, then such a product contains Titanium Dioxide and/or Zinc Oxide to reflect or scatter UV radiation before it reaches our skin. Such ingredients sit on our skin and will only be removed when you wash them off. These are not easily washed off. You will definitely have to double cleanse. In fact, you should be worried if your mineral based sunscreen can be washed off relatively easily because it might not have withstood your perspiration and did not last as long as you have desired it to.

To get this product, chat with us now or whatapp 96890670

If you are using a Chemical-based Sunscreen
On the other hand, if you are using a chemical-based sunscreen, then such a product absorb the UV rays using chemical filters like Mexoryl, Tinosorb, Oxybenzone, and Avobenzone, amongst others. Unlike the mineral-based sunscreens, such chemical sunscreens work from within your skin but they most likely also contain Titanium Dioxide and/or Zinc Oxide to provide additional shield. In this case, it would mean you still have to double cleanse to ensure your skin is completely clean.

If you are using a Moisturizer with SPF
Even if you are not using any sunscreen, your moisturizer with SPF protection may also contain some of the sun protection ingredients. Additionally, the products you are using could possibly contain silicones. Double cleansing would ensure that your skin is well cleansed and will not be clogged. And a weekly exfoliation would also do your skin good in terms of keeping it primed to absorb the other skin care goodies you slather on.

Removing Makeup Is Important

It is so important to make sure that you remove your makeup at the end of your day, this is necessary so that your skin will be able to breathe and regenerate itself during the whole night while you sleep. It is normal to feel lazy at the end of a long day, and being tired causes women and men to fall asleep without removing the makeup from their skin, but that can be very damaging to the face and pores. The effect from leaving makeup on your face overnight can clog your pores and cause you to experience breakouts more frequently. When makeup becomes impacted into your facial pores, it makes them look larger and more noticeable. It is very essential to remove all makeup products thoroughly and completely to avoid blackheads, clogged pores and pimples.

Items you will require for removal of makeup:
• Eye makeup remover
• Facial cleanser
• A clean towel
• Cotton pads
• Moisturizer

Step One
Start by with removing the eye makeup first. It is important to begin with the make up on and around the eyes because removing mascara can be very difficult, this is especially true if it is waterproof. In order to completely remove your mascara and eye shadows pigments, the use of an eye makeup removal product is recommended. Start by applying the eye makeup remover to a cotton pad and gently wipe the makeup away from each eye. The easiest way to do this is to close your eyes and then gently rub downwards on the lashes. You can repeat this motion a few times until all of the mascara is gone. Make sure to be careful to never stretch the skin around the eyes, because the skin here is very delicate. It is a good idea to use a different cotton pad if necessary to remove the eye shadows pigments. You can also use baby oil in place of eye makeup remover, or wet wipes, but you should never use regular makeup remover on or around your eyes, because this could cause drying of the skin in this sensitive area.

Step Two
On the rest of the face you can use a facial cleanser, but you should avoid using a soap unless it is specially designed for the face, because it can cause excessive drying. Start by wetting your face and then apply the facial cleanser. With your fingers tips gently rub the cleanser into the face and don’t forget to include your neck too! Concentrate more on the areas where you applied the makeup most heavily, usually on the mouth area, nose, and cheekbones. Make sure you leave the cleanser on the skin for two to three minutes so that it can penetrate into the skin.

Step Three
Use lukewarm water to remove all of the facial cleanser, and then dry your face with a clean towel. It is usually good practice to make sure you rinse three times to ensure the removal of all cosmetic and cleanser residue.

Step Four
Tone your skin
Try to stay away from oil-based astringents, and stick to oil-free types appropriate for your skin. Apply it generously to the cotton pad and wipe your face until it is clean. It is recommended, but not required that you use a toner, at this point, as they are one of the most important parts of allowing healthy skin. Toners can also help to reduce the appearance of pores, and eliminate oil from your skin.

Step Five
Moisturize your skin
This is perhaps one of the most important steps, try not to skip this one! Make sure to moisturize your skin after you have removed your makeup.
So now that you are aware of the importance of removing your makeup every evening before bedtime, you should choose a few towels or a makeup removal mitt to be specifically for this purpose. This can help avoid ruining your nice bathroom towels with mascara and cover-up.

SELF-HELP : Acne Treatment Guide

There are a few steps you can take to treat your acne. These include using an oil free moisturiser and a gentle cleanser when washing your face; remembering to wash your hands before you apply your make up and not squeezing your acne spots.

These are all ‘self-help’ steps in that you can do these at home without need to consult your GP. They can also be followed along with any over the counter acne product or an acne medication that is only available on prescription.

A self-help routine is useful for cases of mild acne but moderate to severe forms of acne will require further treatment.

Skin Care

Start with a good daily skin care routine. This means washing your face twice a day and using a mild cleanser. This type of cleanser will remove any excess grease from your skin as well as unblocking your pores. Most importantly, it will not aggravate your acne.

This is followed by the application of an oil-free moisturiser.

You may be wondering about the use of a moisturiser on an oily skin but washing plus an acne medication can dry out your skin. A dry skin is then vulnerable to peeling which will aggravate your acne. So use a light moisturiser every time you wash your face.

Avoid any excess rubbing of your face. Wash around your jaw line, neck and around your ears as well as your face. Cleanse your face, rinse off and then repeat this again.

Apply an acne medication such as a cream or lotion which can be purchased off the counter or on prescription via your GP. Avoid wearing make up which is too heavy as it is likely to clog up your pores. Choose a non-oily based version instead.

This routine works well on cases of acne where there is no inflammation, e.g. blackheads.

But if you have inflamed acne then use an anti-bacterial cleanser which contains the chemical ‘benzoyl peroxide’. This chemical dries out oily skin and helps dead skin cells to shed as per normal. This prevents the pores from clogging up as well as the risk of infection.

Clean, exfoliate, rinse and moisturise before applying an acne medication.

Skin Care & Body Acne

If you have acne on other parts of your body as well as your face, for example, your back and shoulders then adopt the same routine. Use a soft cloth to clean those areas rather than a loofah or a brush and avoid any form movements such as scrubbing which will further aggravate your acne.

Have more baths than showers: lying in warm water will help remove dead skin cells as well as opening the skin pores.

Apply an acne cream or lotion afterwards. Wear loose, cotton clothing or anything made from natural fibres and avoid tight fitting or man-made fibres.

Male Skin Care & Acne

A skin care routine is just as important for men. Adopt the same routine as mentioned above which equally applies to men and women. Washing the face twice a day, using a moisturiser and an acne medication will all help to control your acne.

Avoid washing your face too often or too vigorously as this can remove essential oils from the skin as well as irritating your acne. It is easy to assume that frequent washing will clean a greasy skin which is a symptom of acne but this can have the opposite effect.

Excessive washing will dry out the skin which leaves it vulnerable to peeling. Dry skin is also a side effect of some acne medications.

Be careful when you shave that you don’t catch your razor on any of the spots. Use an electric razor instead of a manual razor and avoid applying any aftershave. Apply an acne medication instead but choose one which does not irritate newly shaved skin. Do not shave if you have an outbreak of severely inflamed acne.

Use a moisturiser. Moisturisers are not just for women. There are plenty of moisturisers available which is marketed at men. This means you do not have the embarrassment of buying a moisturiser in a bright pink container!

Note to both men and women: make sure that you use products on your skin which are ‘non-comedogenic’; this means that they will not clog up your pores.

Other Self-Help Methods

Looking after your skin is important but also pay attention to your diet. Acne is not caused by certain foods, e.g. chips, but you may find that these foods worsen your acne.

Eating a healthy diet is not only beneficial for your acne but is also good for your health as well. Ensure that you get all the vitamins and minerals you need and drink plenty of water.

If you are experiencing a period of acute stress at this time then look at ways of reducing this. Stress does not actually cause acne but it could aggravate an existing outbreak.

And, most importantly, do not pick or squeeze your spots. We know that this is hard to resist but it is important that you do to prevent the risk of further infection and/or scarring.

THE MOST POPULAR ALTERNATIVE & NATURAL ACNE TREATMENTS

Prescription treatments are a great way to clear up stubborn acne and for many they can be a lifesaver, but for those with less serious acne it may be worth trying a few alternative treatments first.

Along with over-the-counter washes and creams, there are a whole host of natural skin clearing remedies that can be easily created from the things you have in your kitchen. From potatoes to garlic, you’ll be amazed at the fantastic healing properties these humble food stuffs can have.

So without further ado, here are some of the most effective – occasionally surprising – alternative acne remedies.

Ice

Everyone has ice cubes in their freezer (poised for that temporary glimpse of UK sun), so next time you feel the slightest hint of a pimple, wrap a few ice cubes in some plastic wrap or a towel and hold it against the affected area, every hour if possible but for no longer than five minutes each time. The cold will help reduce the inflammation and redness.

Aspirin

Aspirin are well known for their effectiveness at reducing inflammation, and taking one or two tablets four times a day can help do this as well as calming a potential acne outbreak.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is well known as an antibacterial and anti-fungal remedy – and this makes it ideal for treating mild to moderate acne. In fact, studies have proven it’s just as effective as benzoyl peroxide at fighting acne and reducing lesions. Daubing the affected blemish will ward off infection and speed the healing process. It also has fewer side effects than benzoyl peroxide.

Zinc

Acne sufferers generally tend to have lower than normal zinc levels, and zinc supplements yield positive, visible improvements in around a third of people who take them. The downside, however, is that you’ll need to take large quantities of it to make any  noticeable difference (between 200 and 600 milligrams every day), so if you take this route you’ll need to do it under your doctor’s strict supervision.

Potato

Having half a potato clamped to your face might not be the most alluring of looks, but applying potato to the acne affected area will act as an anti-inflammatory. One potato contains Vitamins C and B as well as niacin which are good for skin pigmentation and skin conditions. If you shred it, it will also help remove hyper-pigmentation and prevent wrinkles.   Just make sure you gently wash the potato residue off your skin after you do it.

Cup of tea

This is a variation on that theme and another winner when it comes to cracking the acne dilemma. Drinking one or two cups of chasteberry tea helps combat acne, though it works at a slower rate, taking two or three months to take effect. Also, efficacious for regulating female hormones, drink it in moderation as too much can make your skin look worse.

Honey and Cinnamon

Honey is an unprocessed bacterial agent which eliminates acne and kills bacteria, whilst cinnamon contains cinnamon bark essential oils which acts as an anti-inflammatory and anti-clotting agent.  Put them together and voila! You’ve got the perfect healing face mask to cure your skin and repair acne damage.

Lemon Juice

Lemons, as we all know, are high in acidity – perfect for drying out spots and killing bacteria.  It also offers a calming effect on the skin, whilst it’s Vitamin C produces glowing and healthy skin. To apply it directly to the skin, daub a cotton ball in lemon juice and apply it to the affected areas.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is perfect for regulating the pH of your skin as well as helping with detox. It also contains the lactic and malic acids found in regular vinegar and this can aid with the exfoliating and softening of the skin, ostensibly providing a toner (if you weaken it with water) to treat acne.

Tomatoes/Tomato Pulp

We’re not encouraging you to go through your entire vegetable drawer, but the acidity in tomatoes helps to dry up and heal acne.  Tomatoes also contain Vitamins A, C, K and lycopene – an ingredient used in many acne medications. Sliced or mashed and applied regularly to the affected area of your face like a facial mask, and your acne will soon start to disappear.

Garlic

Garlic contains sulphur, allicin, calcium and zinc, all of which act as antifungals and antibiotics and therefore clean the skin. To use it effectively as a natural treatment against acne, crush the cloves, mix them with water and apply it to the skin.

Cucumber

Because a cucumber contains 95% they represent the ultimate in hydration and are excellent at cleaning pores and skin cells, perfect as a face wash to remove superfluous oil and moisturise.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is a particularly efficacious way to treat acne and scarring, as the expansion properties, damage and dry texture in your skin diminished by acne are rejuvenated by applying a salt and olive oil mixture to your skin, rinsed off with warm water.

Over-the-counter treatments

When it comes to combating acne, non-prescription, over-the-counter treatments are usually the first port of call.  The majority of acne creams and gels contain the active ingredient benzoyl peroxide, which is ostensibly a very mild bleach.

Benzoyl peroxide removes the top layer of dead skin cells, unblocks pores, and acts as an antiseptic to kill off the bacteria which causes spots. Its strength ranges from 1-10%, with 2.5% being the recommended level. Opting for 10% first time will have the counter-productive effect of irritating and peeling your skin.

Acne is generally a skin condition that heals itself and disappears on its own, but these alternative acne remedies yield particularly effective results when it comes to ridding your skin of embarrassing and uncomfortable acne.

ACNE SCARS

Acne is a very common issue for people of Asian descent. People with Asian skin tend to have a bigger issue with marks left behind after acne lesions heal. These marks, scientifically referred to as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, can stick around for a longer time in people with Asian skin and can be challenging to treat.

The bottom line is "Prevention is key. Get yourself completely cleared up so you are actively preventing future acne lesions, hyperpigmentation, and scarring".

Scarring tends to be genetically linked to an individual's unique inflammation response. Those people with a "secondary inflammatory response" to trauma tend to scar, while those with a "single inflammatory response" to trauma tend not to scar. This explains why some people will scar easily and others maintain a smooth complexion even through moderately severe battles with acne.

Types of Acne Scars

1) Ice Pick Scars- Common
Ice pick scars are deep pits that are usually less than 2mm across. They extend into the skin, giving the skin an appearance of having been punctured by an ice pick.

2) Boxcar Scars- Common
Boxcar scars are angular scars with sharp vertical edges, and resemble the scars left by chicken pox. They may be shallow or deep, and are most often found on the cheeks and temples.

03) Rolling Scars - Common
Rolling scars are caused by damage under the surface of the skin. They give the skin a wave-like appearance. They tend to be wide and shallow.

04) Hypertropic Scars - Less Common
Hypertrophic scars are raised and lumpy. They tend to appear on the back and chest, but can also appear on the neck and face. Often the result of severe acne (cysts or nodules), they generally stay within the boundary of the original wound, and may decrease in size over time.

05) Hyperpigmentation - Not Scars
Hyperpigmentation refers to the red or dark marks that are left behind after a pimple heals. These marks, also called macules, are not scars, but are often confused with scars because they can last for months or even years before they fade.

What Are Pores?

Pores are tiny little openings (resembling little holes) in the skin where the body's natural oil (called sebum), produced in the sebaceous glands , is released to the surface of the skin. Pores are also home to all of the follicles of hair that grow on your body.

Every single person has pores all over their entire body, the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet. We all have hair all over our body, head to toe, except for these areas (and a few others like the eye lids) and pores are home to those hair follicles. The oil from the sebaceous glands travel up the pore to the skin's surface, causing your skin to be naturally moisturized. It is a perfect system that works well...most of the time. Sometimes the sebaceous glands work over-time due to hormones, daily stress and other triggers and too much oil is released. But without pores and the ability for the sebum to travel up the hair follicle to the skin's surface, your skin would be horribly dry, cracked and unhealthy.

Your pore size is determined by genetics. If your parents had large pores in their teens and 20's, you are more likely to have large pores, too. But just because you are genetically predisposed to large pores does not mean that you cannot take steps to keep them clear to avoid them getting clogged and stretched out.

When a pore gets clogged with sebum and dead skin cells, acne, cystic acne white heads and black heads can form. If you find yourself dealing with acne on a regular basis or you have oily skin most days, using a facial cleanser with salicylic acid will help. The salicylic acid will clear out the blockage, reduce the dead skin cells on your skin's surface and keep your pores clean and able to do their job without getting clogged. Toners are also good for those who have oily, clogged pores.

You cannot shrink them. But the good news is that with a change of skin care habits and the right products, you can stop them from getting clogged and stretched out and you can make them less of an issue. Using the right cleanser, exfoliating the dead skin cells and using a primer can all help reduce the appearance of your large pores.

Pores are difficult to see when your skin is healthy, but when they become clogged, they appear much larger. Read on for four methods for making your pores look smaller: exfoliation, use of a facial mask, special treatments and pore-concealing makeup.

1. Exfoliate

Use a makeup remover. Buildup from makeup is often responsible for clogging pores. The first step in the exfoliation process is to remove it.

  • Try to find a natural makeup remover, if possible. The chemicals in many makeup removers can dry out your skin, causing it to flake and increasing the need for exfoliation.

To get this product, chat with us now or whatapp 96890670

Cleanse your face with warm water. There's no need to use any special facial cleanser to unclog your pores. In fact, soaps, perfumes and other ingredients might actually exacerbate the problem by inflaming your skin.
  • Make sure the water is warm, not hot. Again, reddening and inflaming the skin is not necessary, and not good for reducing the appearance of pores.
  • Pat your face dry with a soft towel. Don't scrub it, or you may damage your skin, which is more sensitive on your face than other parts of your body.
Use an exfoliant. Exfoliating skin removes dead skin cells and oils that clog your pores. Consider these different types of exfoliants, and use one as often as needed:
  • A dry facial brush. Buy a small, soft brush made with natural fibers and use it to gently brush your face. Your face and the brush should both be dry. Use swift, short strokes to brush away flakes around your eyes, cheeks and chin.
  • Use an exfoliating product. Many creams, gels and cleansers come mixed with small particles that exfoliate the skin. Use these sparingly, since the other ingredients may inflame your skin.
  • Make your own facial scrub. Sugar, honey and green tea can go a long way toward making your skin glow. These ingredients are gentle on your skin and shouldn't cause inflammation.

Moisturize. After you are finished exfoliating, apply a light moisturizer or facial oil, like rose hip oil. This will keep your skin from getting dried out and irritated, helping to reduce the appearance of pores.

2. Use a Clay Mask

To get this product, chat with us now or whatapp 96890670

Start with a clean face. Using the cleansing method outlined above, remove your makeup, splash your face with warm water, and pat it dry with a towel.

Test the facial mask in a small area. Apply the mask to a small patch on your face. Let it sit for a few minutes and then remove it. If the area looks red or inflamed, don't use the mask. If not, go ahead with the next step.

Apply the mask. Masks pull dirt from your pores and reduce inflammation of the surrounding skin, helping to make the pores appear smaller.
  • Clay masks are ideal for this purpose, but any natural facial mask will work fine. Try making your own mask with yoghurt.
  • Smooth the mask over your face, concentrating in the areas where your pores appear large.
  • Allow the mask to stay on your face for about fifteen minutes, or the length of time specified on the package.
Rinse the mask. Use warm water to gently rinse the mask away. Pat your face dry with a soft towel. Your face should appear fresh, with smaller-looking pores.

3. Use Special Treatments

Use alpha hydroxy or beta hydroxy acids, known as chemical exfoliants. These are available for purchase from beauty stores, and they exfoliate your skin without you having to scrub it.
  • Starting with a clean face, apply the product and allow it to sit for fifteen minutes, or the time specified on the package.
  • Wash the substance away and pat your face dry with a soft towel.
  • Don't leave the substance on for too long or it could irritate your skin.
Consider blackhead removal. Most beauty advice suggests not to actively remove blackheads, and it certainly shouldn't be done often. However, but if they are noticeable and excessive, it is okay to do this now and then.
  • First exfoliate the blackhead. Then use a sterile wipe on the area. Roll skin around the blackhead into a small mound and with tissue wrapped around your fingers to prevent the spread of bacteria, gently squeeze the blackhead until it leaves the skin.
  • Alternatively there are blackhead removal tools. Always make sure you wear mini finger gloves or wrap tissue around your fingers to prevent the transfer of bacteria.
Get a micro dermabrasion. This professional treatment removes a layer of the skin to deeply exfoliate. This treatment is usually expensive and can damage your skin if done too often.

4. Pore-Concealing Makeup

Start with a good moisturizer. Your skin needs to stay hydrated to prevent it from becoming irritated and inflamed, which makes your pores look larger. A layer of moisturizer also protects your skin from irritating chemicals contained in other makeup products.

Use a primer. This is the first layer of makeup you put on your skin after moisturizing. It blends with your skin tone and evens the texture of your skin, causing your pores to look smaller.

Use a concealer. Concealer adds another layer of color and texture and can completely mask the surface of your skin, depending on the brand you choose.
  • If your pores are large in appearance, you may be tempted to cake on the makeup. Concealer is helpful in small doses, but using a lot of it may call even more attention to areas you're trying to conceal.
  • Choose your brand wisely. Concealer can clog pores and make them appear to look big. Make sure your concealer isn't actually making the problem worse before you include it in your daily regimen.
  • Remove your makeup every night. Make sure you take it off before you go to sleep so you wake up with unclogged pores.
